Georgia is one of the southern states of the USA, located in the Atlantic region of the country. Georgia shares borders with the states of North Carolina and Tennessee in the north, Florida in the south, Alabama in the west, and South Carolina in the east. The eastern border of the state is also formed by the Atlantic coastline which is estimated to be about 100 miles. The total area of the state is slightly below 60 thousand square miles and the average elevation of Georgia is about 600 feet, with the highest point of the state being Mount Enotah, or Brasstown Bald, with the elevation of 4,785 feet. The city of Atlanta, located in the northern part of the state, is the capital city of Georgia. Other large cities of the state include the cities of Savannah, Columbus, Augusta, Macon, Warner Robins, Athens, Rome, Sandy Springs, and others.

There are many natural wonders and landmarks in the state. The eastern border of the state is outlined by the river of Savannah which has a few really large reservoirs like the ones near Sadlers Creek State Park or the one near the city of Augusta. The river meets the Atlantic Ocean right where the city of Savannah is located. There are also many natural parks and forests situated in the state, mainly in its northern part. Those include Chattahoochee National Forest, Johns Mountain Wildlife Management Area, Dawson Forest - City of Atlanta Tract, Scull Shoals Experimental Forest, Oconee National Forest, Piedmont National Wildlife Refuge, and a few others. The state of Georgia has the second fastest developing economy after Texas, and is a key industrial and cultural center, known as the Empire State of the South.
