Gillette Stadium: Home of the New England Patriots

Gillette Stadium, formerly known as CMGI Field, is a stadium located in Foxborough, Massachusetts, at 1 Patriot Place. It is the home stadium of the NFL’s New England Patriots. Designed by HOK Sport, the stadium opened on May 11, 2002, and was renovated in 2023. It hosts American football, college football, ice hockey games, and international soccer matches. The stadium is easily accessible via U.S. Route 1 and the Foxboro Train Station. It is located about 22 miles southwest of Boston and 2 miles from the Cadillac Ice Arena.

Gillette Stadium is part of Patriot Place, a large shopping and entertainment complex that includes hotels, stores, restaurants, a movie theater, and the Patriots Hall of Fame, along with other attractions such as the statue of Tom Brady. The stadium has a seating capacity of 64,628. It has also served as a home venue for the Boston Cannons and has hosted the NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championships.

Over the years, Gillette Stadium has hosted many major sporting events, including the MLS Cup 2002, the 2003 and 2007 AFC Championship Games, the 2003 FIFA Women’s World Cup, the 2016 Outdoor Women’s Classic, and the 2016 NHL Winter Classic. The venue has also welcomed numerous famous musicians and bands, such as Metallica, Elton John, Rammstein, Bruce Springsteen, Taylor Swift, Eagles, The Rolling Stones, Bon Jovi, AC/DC, U2, Ed Sheeran, Guns N’ Roses, Coldplay, Beyoncé, and Jay-Z.

Gillette Stadium is set to be one of the venues for the 2026 FIFA World Cup, where it will host seven matches.
