Foxborough, Massachusetts: Home to Gillette Stadium

Foxborough is a town in Massachusetts, United States, located in Norfolk County. It was settled in the early 18th century, incorporated on June 10, 1778, and named after the British politician Charles James Fox. The town is part of the Boston metropolitan area and is situated about 20 miles northeast of Providence, Rhode Island, and 24 miles southwest of Boston, Massachusetts. Foxborough is best known as the home of Gillette Stadium, which hosts the NFL’s New England Patriots and is part of Patriot Place, a large shopping and entertainment complex. The area features many stores, restaurants, a few hotels, a museum (the Patriots Hall of Fame), sports facilities, and a movie theater. The town is easily accessible via U.S. Route 1 and the Foxboro Train Station. Interstates 95 and 495 also pass through Foxborough.

Known as the “Gem of Norfolk County”, Foxborough offers many parks, hiking trails, and recreational areas. These include the Payson Road Recreation Area, the Nature Trail and Cranberry Bog, and the Harold B. Clark Town Forest. The town is also home to F. Gilbert Hills State Forest, a state park covering about 1,027 acres and featuring trails for hiking, mountain biking, and other outdoor activities. A campground, Normandy Farms Campground, is located in the southwestern part of the town. 

Foxborough has several historic buildings as well. The Foxboro Grange Hall was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on April 21, 1983. Memorial Hall, a Gothic-style building constructed in 1868 and designed by John Stevens, was also added to the National Register of Historic Places on the same date.
