Makati is one of the cities in the Philippines and a community located within the limits of Metro Manila, the metropolitan area of the country's capital. Makati is a modern city with some of the best business and especially financial institutions in Metro Manila, with many banks, insurance and foreign trade companies, shopping centers, and business representative offices located in the city.

The total area of the city exceeds 8 square miles, which makes Makati not very large geographically. However, it is an important center of the country's social and cultural life, together with other large cities in the region. Located in the south-central part of Metro Manila, the city of Makati is divided into 33 sub-districts called barangays.

Makati is bordered by neighboring cities such as Mandaluyong and Santa Ana to the north, Pasay to the west, Taguig to the south, and Pasig to the east. The city is also a popular tourist destination, with many attractions and points of interest, a pleasant climate, unique local flora and fauna, high-quality services, and many modern accommodation options.

Makati can be reached easily by land or by air, and a large international airfield, Ninoy Aquino International Airport, is located less than 4 miles south of Makati’s city center. A few excellent world-class resort complexes, such as Okada Manila and Solaire Resort & Casino, can also be found just a few miles west of the city’s downtown area.
