Montana is one of the largest states in the United States, located in the northwestern part of the country along the border with Canada. It shares borders with Idaho to the west, Wyoming to the south, North Dakota and South Dakota to the east, and the Canadian provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, and Saskatchewan to the north.

Nicknamed “The Land of the Shining Mountains” and “Big Sky Country”, Montana is famous for its breathtaking landscapes, wide-open spaces, and scenic views. The state features remarkably diverse geography, along with varied flora and fauna. Western Montana is dominated by the Rocky Mountains, while the eastern part consists mainly of plains and rolling lowlands shaped by the Missouri River and its tributaries. Covering nearly 147,000 square miles, Montana is the fourth-largest state in the country by area. It is also an important cultural center in the region, hosting numerous festivals and cultural events in its major cities each year.

Montana is especially well known for its vast natural areas and protected lands, including Upper Missouri River Breaks National Monument, Flathead National Forest, Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest, Beaverhead-Deerlodge National Forest, and Custer Gallatin National Forest. Helena is the state capital, while Billings, located in the south-central part of the state, is the largest city.
