Temple is a city in Bell County, central Texas, United States, located 128 miles south of Dallas and 68 miles northeast of Austin. It is the second largest city in the county as well as the main city of the Killeen–Temple–Fort Hood metropolitan area. It was settled on June 29, 1881, founded by and named for Bernard Moore Temple, and incorporated in 1882. Interstate 35 and U.S. Route 190 pass through the city. Draughon-Miller Central Texas Regional Airport and Temple Station serve the area. It is home to a few important hospitals including The Baylor Scott & White Medical Center, educational institutions like Temple College, and a campus of the Texas A&M College of Medicine. The hq of the Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board is also based in Temple. Local attractions include the historic Santa Fe Depot, Lions Junction Family Water Park, the City of Temple Public Library, and Temple Railroad & Heritage Museum.
