Kearney is a city in Nebraska, United States, and serves as the seat of Buffalo County. It is located 131 miles west of Lincoln and 186 miles west of Omaha. It is one of the most populous cities in the state and the main city of the Kearney Micropolitan Statistical Area. The city is home to the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK), which was founded as Nebraska State Normal School at Kearney in 1905. The university is also one of the top employers in the city. Interstate 80 and U.S. Highway 30 pass through the city. Kearney Regional Airport also serves the area.

- The Great Platte River Road Archway Monument is one of the major attractions in the city, located on Interstate 80. The monument was also one of the filming locations for About Schmidt (2002).
- The George W. Frank House is a historic house situated on the University of Nebraska at Kearney. It was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on February 23, 1973. The mansion was built in 1889 by George W. Frank. Today, it houses the G.W. Frank Museum of History and Culture.
- The Museum of Nebraska Art is located at 2401 Central Avenue. The building dates back to 1911 and was designed by James Knox Taylor in the neoclassical Revival style. It was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on September 17, 1981. The museum's permanent collection includes the works of Frank Rinehart, John Philip Falter, Robert Henri, and Alice Eliza Cleaver.
- Trails & Rails Museum is located at 710 W 11th Street. The museum is in a 1898 depot and features exhibits on the history of Buffalo County.
