Agoura Hills is a city in Los Angeles County, California, located along U.S. Route 101, approximately 35 miles west of downtown Los Angeles. It is bordered by Oak Park to the north, Calabasas to the east, and Westlake Village to the west. Known as the gateway to the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area, the city sits within the Santa Monica Mountains of Southern California. The region was originally inhabited by the Chumash people before Spanish settlers arrived in the 1700s. Agoura Hills was incorporated on December 8, 1982, and named after Don Pierre Agoure.
