Woodward, OK, USA

Woodward is a city in northwestern Oklahoma, United States, located on the banks of the North Canadian River. It lies about 140 miles northwest of Oklahoma City, 85 miles west of Enid, and just south of the Kansas state border. The city serves as the seat of Woodward County. It is an important transportation hub, with important highways such as U.S. Route 412 and Oklahoma State Highways 15 and 34 passing through the area. West Woodward Airport and McCormick Airport also serve the region.

The area was originally inhabited by several Native American tribes, including the Arapaho, Cheyenne, and Kiowa, before European-Americans arrived. Woodward later developed as a cattle town due to its location along the Great Western Cattle Trail. Today, the city is known for its historical character, with several buildings and sites listed on the National Register of Historic Places, including the Woodward Federal Courthouse and Post Office, the L. L. Stein House, the Woodward Theater, and Crystal Beach Park.

Boiling Springs State Park, located northeast of the city, is one of the most popular local attractions. Established in 1935, the park covers about 820 acres (330 hectares) and is famous for its natural springs. It offers a variety of outdoor activities like hiking and swimming, along with facilities including a swimming pool, playgrounds, restrooms, campgrounds, and RV sites. Other points of interest in Woodward include Boiling Springs Golf Course, the Plains Indians & Pioneers Museum, and Crystal Beach Waterpark. The city is also home to High Plains Technology Center and a campus of Northwestern Oklahoma State University.
