Almont is a small town in North Dakota, USA, and a part of Morton County. It is situated in the central part of the state, about 37 miles west of the city of Bismarck and about 9 miles south of Interstate 94. The town was founded in the beginning of the last century as a small station at Northern Pacific Railroad. It used to be a developing agricultural community, and there is still an old very tall barn preserved since those times. During the second half of the last century, the population of Almont dropped from 230 down to 120. Young people had a tendency to leave the town and move to Bismarck or larger cities to continue their lives in much larger communities.
