Arlington is a large city located about 21 miles west of Dallas and 16 miles east of Fort Worth in Texas, in the southern United States. It is known as part of the densely populated Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington metropolitan area. It is one of the most populous cities in the state. The city is primarily a center of education, sports, culture, and services. There is a large university campus, the University of Texas at Arlington (UTA), which employs over 5,500 people and provides jobs for a large number of residents. The city is also a transportation hub, connected with other cities and towns by roads and railways.
