Serving as the seat of St. Louis County, Clayton is a city in Missouri, United States, located to the west of St. Louis. It was named after Ralph Clayton, settled in 1877, and incorporated in 1913. The city has a few historical landmarks such as Central Presbyterian Church. The Hi-Pointe–DeMun Historic District is partially located in Clayton. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 7, 2005. Clayton is an important economic center of the region, home to many large employers such as Centene, Cushman & Wakefield, Bank of America, Straub's Markets, and Barry-Wehmiller Companies. The city is also home to Washington University, a private research university founded in 1853. Clayton Train Station and Interstate 170 serve the area.

Shaw Park is known as the largest and oldest park in the city, offering beautiful gardens, hiking paths, playgrounds, and sports facilities like volleyball courts and baseball fields as well as a pavilion.
