Chaffee is a community in south eastern North Dakota, situated about 1.5 miles south of Interstate 94. It is an old small town established at the end of the 19th century near a newly built railway station. The settlement was named after Mr. Chaffee, who was an executive on the railway station. It is interesting that his son became one of the passengers of Titanic who lost his life during the tragedy, however his wife was saved. Today, the town is a small remote rural community, with the population close to 350 people. There is a nice place to eat in the town, Chaffee Cafe and Store.
