Chillicothe, known as Ohio's First Capital, is a city in Ohio, United States, located within Ross County on the banks of the Scioto River. Situated 47 miles south of Columbus, the city serves as the county seat and is the main city of the Chillicothe micropolitan area. The city was founded at the end of the 18th century and named after one of the five divisions of the Shawnee. It is home to a public regional campus of Ohio University.
