Cohoes, also known as "Spindle City", is a city located at the confluence of the Mohawk River and the Hudson River, in the northeastern part of Albany county, eastern New York, United States. Incorporated as a city in 1869, Cohoes has a total area of 4.24 sq mi (10.97 km2). Its history dates back to 1665 when the Dutch settled in the area. There are many historic sites and landmarks in Cohoes such as Cohoes Music Hall, Downtown Cohoes Historic District, Delaware and Hudson Railroad Freight House, William J. Dickey House, J.
