Goldsboro is a city in Wayne County, North Carolina, United States, located 54 miles southeast of Raleigh and 80 miles southeast of Durham. It serves as the county seat. The city was founded in 1787 and incorporated in 1847. The Neuse River marks the city's southern border, while the Little River marks its western border. Cliffs of the Neuse State Park is the major point of interest in Goldsboro. The park was established in 1945 and covers 1,097 acres (4.4 km2). The park features a museum with exhibits on its geology. The park also has campgrounds, hiking trails, as well as picnic and swimming areas. Other local attractions include Herman Park, Waynesborough Historical Village, Paramount Theatre, and Premiere Theatre 12. The city is home to a campus of North Carolina Wesleyan College and Wayne Community College. U.S. Routes 13, 70, and 117, Interstate 795, North Carolina Highways 111 and 581 serve the area. Seymour Johnson AFB is located in Goldsboro.
