Gyachung Kang is a tall and really beautiful mountain situated in the western Himalayas, right on the border between Nepal and the People's Republic of China. With the elevation of 26,089 feet, the mountain is considered to be the 15th highest peak in the world. Gyachung Kang is a part of the massif of the Himalayas called the Mahalangur Himar. The mountain is also known as the tallest one with the elevation below 8,000 meters (its actual elevation in meters is equal to 7,952 meters). Gyachung Kang is located in quite a close proximity to Mount Everest and is one of the numerous tall peaks near the tallest mountain in the world. The northern part of Gyachung Khan is considered to be really difficult for climbing, and the first successful attempt of climbing this mountain took place only in the very end of the 20th century, in 1999.
