Jacksonville is one of the largest cities in the state of Florida in the southeastern United States. It is located on the St. Johns River and sits in the northeastern corner of the state. It serves as the seat of Duval County. The border between Georgia and Jacksonville is located about 25 miles north of the city, and the shores of the Atlantic Ocean are about 16 miles east of the city center. Jacksonville is relatively close to the state capital, Tallahassee, which is about 165 miles to the west. Orlando is 140 miles south of Jacksonville, Tampa is about 200 miles to the southwest, and the largest metropolitan area in the state, Miami, is located more than 350 miles to the south.

Palm Coast, St. Augustine, Gainesville, and Callahan are some of the cities located around Jacksonville.
