Jonesboro, AR, USA

Jonesboro is a city in Craighead County, northeastern Arkansas, USA, located 70 miles northwest of Memphis, Tennessee. It is one of the county seats with Lake City. The city is home to Arkansas State University, a public research university founded in 1909. Incorporated on February 19, 1859, Jonesboro is one of the most populous cities in Arkansas. The area was originally inhabited by various Native American tribes, including the Osage, Quapaw, and Caddo. Jonesboro Municipal Airport, Interstate 555 and U.S. Highways 49 and 78 serve the area. Crowley's Ridge Parkway, a National Scenic Byway, also passes through the city.

Jonesboro was home to the Mall at Turtle Creek, which closed in 2020, and was the largest shopping center in the region. The city has many tourist attractions. Craighead County Courthouse was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on September 11, 1998. It was built in 1934 and designed by Elmer A. Stuck in the Art Deco style. The West Washington Avenue Historic District, located at 500-626 W Washington Avenue, is also listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The Bell House, a historic house situated at 303 West Cherry Street, was built by J. V. Bell. It was added to the NRHP on November 7, 1976. Other points of interest in the city include the Bradbury Art Museum, Craighead Forest Park, Malco Jonesboro Towne Cinema, and Craighead County Jonesboro Public Library.
