Kathmandu, Nepal

Kathmandu (काठमाडौँ) is the capital and the largest city of Nepal, with the historic downtown area and modern residential districts located on the outskirts. The city is situated in a beautiful valley in central Nepal, often surrounded by the Himalayan peaks, and is known as the "City of Temples" because it is home to many ancient temples, including some of the oldest pagodas in the world. Kathmandu is the center of the country's tourism industry, attracting thousands of visitors every year who come to enjoy its temples, palaces, gardens, canals, and numerous other attractions.

The city has an ancient history and offers many interesting activities to its guests. Kathmandu is also known for its multicultural and multi-religious community, where Hindus, Buddhists, Muslims, and Christians live side by side. In 2015, the city suffered the devastating effects of a major earthquake that damaged or destroyed many historic monuments and buildings. However, in the following years, restoration efforts have reconstructed many of these monuments.

Modern-day Kathmandu welcomes visitors to its temples, museums, parks, gardens, historic religious and cultural sites, restaurants, and hotels. The city is home to several UNESCO World Heritage Sites, which are protected for their historical and cultural significance.
