Milwaukee is one of the large and modern cities in Wisconsin, located in the southeastern part of the state, in the northern region of the United States. It is one of the largest cities situated on the shores of Lake Michigan and is also an important business center of the region. Milwaukee is part of the Midwestern United States and is one of the major cities in that region as well.

The area of the city is estimated to be close to 97 square miles, with the downtown area located along the western shore of Lake Michigan. The city is built at the point where three rivers -the Milwaukee River, the Kinnickinnic River, and the Menomonee River- flow into the lake. Additionally, several smaller rivers and creeks flow through the city.

The central part of Milwaukee includes districts such as the Historic Third Ward, East Town, Yankee Hill, the Lower East Side, Schlitz Park, Weston, and several others. Many of the outlying districts and smaller neighborhoods are located to the northwest of the city, including Roosevelt Grove, Sherman Park, Franklin Heights, Capitol Heights, Lincoln Creek, Columbus Park, Long View, Valhalla, and others.

Milwaukee’s airport, General Mitchell International Airport, is located about 6 miles south of the city center. The distance from Milwaukee to Chicago is about 90 miles, to Detroit about 250 miles, to Minneapolis slightly over 330 miles, and to Toronto about 500 miles. The city has numerous tourist attractions, including the Milwaukee Art Museum, which houses one of the largest collections of works by Georgia O'Keeffe.
