Muzaffarabad (مُظفّر آباد) is a large historic city founded in 1646 by Sultan Muzaffar Khan in northeastern Pakistan, located close to the border with Jammu and Kashmir, in Muzaffarabad District. It is a former capital of a small local empire and a city in a truly wonderful location, in small valleys between the mountains. Muzaffarabad is sadly famous for being near the epicenter of the terrible earthquake which took place in 2005 leading to thousands of deaths.
