Newark, NJ, USA

Newark is the seat of Essex County and one of the largest cities in New Jersey. It is located west of New York City and is part of the Gateway Region of New Jersey. The city, situated on the west bank of the Passaic River, is one of the oldest in the United States. Newark has a large port and numerous business enterprises, making it one of the state’s major employers.

The city is also home to the headquarters of The Star-Ledger and historically hosted Bamberger Broadcasting Service, as well as the New Jersey Motion Picture and Television Commission. The New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), a public polytechnic university, is also located in Newark.

Tourists visit the city to see local points of interest, including the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart, New Jersey Performing Arts Center, Newark Symphony Hall, the historic John Ballantine House, the Justice Sculpture, Newark Murals, Prudential Center, Ironbound, Branch Brook Park, Lincoln Park, the Jewish Museum of New Jersey, Eberhardt Hall, and Washington Park.

Newark Liberty International Airport, one of the main airports serving the New York metropolitan area, is located about 3 miles from downtown Newark.
