Northwest Stadium: Home of the Washington Commanders

Northwest Stadium is the home of the Washington Commanders and is located in Landover, Maryland, United States. Previously known as Jack Kent Cooke Stadium (1997–1999), Redskins Stadium (1999), FedExField (1999–2024), and Commanders Field (2024), the stadium is situated at 1600 Ring Road in Summerfield, a census-designated place in Prince George’s County, approximately 11 miles east of Washington, D.C. Opened on September 14, 1997, and designed by HOK Sport, the stadium has a seating capacity of 64,000 and was renovated in 2024. It was the largest stadium in the NFL until 2010 and is easily accessible via Interstate 495.

In addition to NFL games, Northwest Stadium hosts college football, soccer, rugby union matches, and concerts. Many famous artists and bands have performed at the stadium, including Beyoncé and Jay-Z, U2, The Rolling Stones, Metallica, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, Guns N’ Roses, Coldplay, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, AC/DC, The Weeknd, and Kendrick Lamar and SZA.

Although Northwest Stadium currently serves as the home of the Washington Commanders, the New Commanders Stadium (38.8899163, -76.9720467) is planned to become the team’s home venue once it is completed.
