Red Cloud, Nebraska: Home of Writer Willa Cather

Red Cloud is the seat of Webster County, and a small city in southern Nebraska, United States. It is located at the intersection of U.S. Route 136 and U.S. Route 281, near the Republican River, close to the state border with Kansas. Red Cloud Municipal Airport serves the city. The area was originally inhabited by the Pawnee. The city has many historical landmarks and buildings, such as the Farmers' and Merchants' Bank, which was built in 1889. The National Willa Cather Center is among the major points of interest in Red Cloud. American author Willa Cather lived in Red Cloud in the 1880s. You can visit Willa Cather Childhood Home, which was built in 1879, located at 245 N Cedar Street. Other historical buildings in the city are Grace Episcopal Church, J. L. Miner House, Red Cloud Opera House, and Burlington Depot.
