Rocky Mount, North Carolina: City On The Rise

Rocky Mount, nicknamed City On The Rise, is a city in northeastern North Carolina, United States, located within Nash County and Edgecombe County, 85 miles east of Durham and 90 miles northeast of Fayetteville. The city was founded on March 22, 1816, and incorporated on February 19, 1867. It is served by Rocky Mount Train Station as well as Interstate 95, U.S. Routes 64 and 301. The Rocky Mount–Wilson Regional Airport is situated 7 miles southwest of the city center. The city is home to North Carolina Wesleyan University and the headquarters of the North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles. Rocky Mount is the main city of the Rocky Mount, NC Metropolitan Statistical Area.

- The Imperial Centre for the Arts & Sciences is a museum located at 270 Gay Street. Founded in 2005, it includes Rocky Mount Children's Museum and Science Center, a performing arts theater and a planetarium, and features hands-on exhibits, workshops. The museum also hosts various events.
- Rocky Mount Mills is a historic cotton mill in Rocky Mount, dating back to 1816. Located at 1151 Falls Road, it was listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on February 1, 1980. Today, it serves as an event space and is home to offices, restaurants, breweries, and hotels.
- The Dunn Center, situated at the North Carolina Wesleyan University, 3400 N Wesleyan Blvd, is a performing arts theater with a capacity of 1,180 people. Opened in 1996, the venue includes the Minges Auditorium. It hosts concerts, art shows, exhibits, and other cultural events.
- Rocky Mount Mills Village Historic District features 101 contributing buildings and 2 contributing structures dating from 1835 to 1948, including examples of Bungalow / American Craftsman and Greek Revival style architecture.
