Santa Clara, known as “The Mission City”, is a large city in west-central California, located within the San Francisco-San Jose metropolitan area, about 48 miles southeast of San Francisco. Founded in 1852, the city covers a total area of 18.4 square miles. Santa Clara is home to Silicon Valley Power (SVP), which supplies electricity to residents, businesses, and many large companies. San José International Airport is located very close to the city center. The city is also home to Santa Clara University, a private institution founded in 1851 and the oldest university in California.

Santa Clara is a great destination for spending a few days with friends and family. The city features a famous amusement park, Paramount’s Great America, along with numerous recreational facilities, including swimming pools, football fields, stadiums, parks, and golf courses. Visitors can explore Mission Church and the de Saisset Museum, both located on Santa Clara University's campus. Other popular attractions include the Harris-Lass Historic Museum, the Triton Museum of Art, the Sun Dial, Agnews Historic Park, Bowers Park, Central Park, Franklin Square Fountain, the Triton Sculpture Garden, the Wilcox Mural, the Santa Clara Convention Center, and the Santa Clara City Library.
