Shanghai, China

Shanghai is one of the largest and most well-known cities in China, located in the eastern coastal part of the country. It is the most populous city in China. Situated on the coast of the East China Sea, Shanghai is a historic city and an important commercial hub. Historically, Shanghai became a key point in trade between China and the rest of the world, serving as a major port, though it was not directly part of the ancient Silk Road that extended to Istanbul.

Modern Shanghai is an extremely busy metropolis, with impressive skyscrapers and a striking skyline. The city is home to numerous businesses, cultural institutions, sports facilities, and entertainment venues. Major landmarks include the Shanghai Museum, Great World, Daguangming Theatre, Yu Garden (Yuyuan Garden), Longhua Pagoda, People's Park, Huangpu Park, Shanghai Botanical Garden, Heping Park (Peace Park), Guangqi Park, Shanghai Indoor Stadium, Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, City God Temple, China Pavilion, The Bund, Shanghai World Financial Center, Jin Mao Tower, Oriental Pearl Tower, Shanghai Tower, Shanghai Grand Theater, Shanghai Exhibition Center, St. Ignatius Cathedral, Shanghai Jiao Tong University Library, and many others.

Shanghai Pudong International Airport is located approximately 30 kilometers east of the city center, while Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport is about 13 kilometers west of downtown and also serves the city.
