Tamil Nadu, India

Tamil Nadu is one of the southernmost states of India and is located next to the state of Kerala in the southern part of the Indian Subcontinent. Tamil Nadu occupies the southeastern part of the peninsula and has an area of close to 50 thousand square miles, which places it among the ten largest states of India. Administratively, Tamil Nadu is divided into 38 districts, with Dindigul, Tiruvannamalai, and Erode among the largest ones. The state is famous primarily for its resorts, numerous agricultural companies producing tropical fruits, national parks, and forests.

The largest protected natural areas of Tamil Nadu include the Kalvarayan Hills Forests, Anamalai Tiger Reserve, Agasthyamalai Biosphere Reserve, Mudumalai National Park, and a few others. The state of Tamil Nadu has a very long coastline, which is about 670 miles long. Thus, many seafood processing and producing companies can be found along the coastal areas of the state.

The largest city and capital of the state, Chennai, is located in the northeastern corner of the area and is a key tourist destination in Tamil Nadu, boasting numerous temples, palaces, modern business and office centers, as well as entertainment and recreation facilities. There are many other large cities located in the state, including Madurai, Coimbatore, Erode, Hosur, Vellore, Tiruchirappalli, Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi, and a few others. One of the Union Territories of India, Puducherry, with the city of Puducherry itself, is located in the eastern coastal part of the state of Tamil Nadu.
