The city is the largest in the county and part of a larger metropolitan area. It was founded by John Young in 1796 and incorporated as a city in 1867. Youngstown has several educational institutions, healthcare facilities, shopping centers, and cultural venues. The city is known by a few nicknames, including The City of You, Steel Town, and Little Chicago.
