Zanesville, Ohio, USA

Zanesville is a city in Ohio, United States, located in Muskingum County along Interstate 70. It is also served by U.S. Route 22 and Zanesville Municipal Airport. The city lies about 55 miles east of Columbus and 140 miles south of Cleveland, at the confluence of the Licking River and the Muskingum River. Zanesville serves as the county seat and is known by several nicknames, including “Clay City” and “The City of Natural Advantages". The city was named after Ebenezer Zane, an American pioneer and politician.

Zanesville is home to Ohio University-Zanesville, a satellite campus of Ohio University, as well as Zane State College, a public community college.

One of the city’s most recognizable landmarks is the Zanesville Y-Bridge, a historic bridge crossing the Licking and Muskingum Rivers. Famous for its unique Y shape, the bridge carries U.S. Route 40. It was built in the early 20th century and was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on November 2, 1973.

Putnam Hill Park is one of the major points of interest in Zanesville, covering 18.5 acres. The park offers scenic views of the city near the iconic bridge and includes a playground.

The city also features several historical landmarks, such as the Dr. Increase Mathews House Museum & Gardens, the Stone Academy Historic Site and Museum, and the Putnam Historic District. In addition, Zanesville has a number of sports facilities, including John D. Sulsberger Memorial Stadium and Gant Stadium.
