Stillwater is a large city in Oklahoma, United States, located in the north-central part of the state, about 62 miles (100 km) west of Tulsa and 64 miles (103 km) northeast of Oklahoma City. It serves as the county seat of Payne County. Often nicknamed “Stilly” or “America’s Friendliest College Town”, Stillwater was incorporated in 1884 and has grown into an important economic, cultural, and educational center of the region.

The city is best known as the home of Oklahoma State University (OSU), an important public research university established in 1890. The university is the largest employer in the city and plays a central role in Stillwater’s economy, culture, and student life. Several major sports venues connected with the university are located in the city, including Boone Pickens Stadium and Gallagher-Iba Arena.

Stillwater offers a variety of cultural and recreational attractions. One of the most famous landmarks is the National Wrestling Hall of Fame and Museum, located at 405 W Hall of Fame Avenue, which preserves and celebrates the history of wrestling in the United States.
