Sapulpa is a city in Oklahoma, United States, located in both Tulsa County and Creek County, and serves as the county seat of Creek County. It is a well-connected city, accessible via several highways, including Interstate 44, U.S. Route 75, and Oklahoma State Highways 66 and 364. Sapulpa lies just southwest of Tulsa and was named after James Sapulpa (1824–1887), the city’s first permanent resident.
Sapulpa is also a historic city, home to several notable buildings. Among them is the John Frank House, located at 1300 Luker Lane, built in 1956 and designed by architect Bruce Goff. The house was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on March 20, 2002. Other historic sites include the Creek County Courthouse, the Berryhill Building, and the McClung House.
The city also offers a variety of recreational options. Parks, sports facilities, and attractions include Kelly Lane Park, Sapulpa City Golf Course, Tee Pee Drive-In Theater, The Roller Dome, Liberty Park, Sahoma Lanes Bowling Center, and Hollier Park. Nearby, the Ozark Trail -a historic road that became part of Route 66- still has visible traces around the city.
