Akre is considered one of the oldest inhabited cities in the world. Because the city had a strategic location, it was ruled by the Ottoman Empire from 1842 until 1918. The city is home to a college, a swimming pool, a stadium, a few parks, stores, restaurants, historical landmarks, and other points of interest.
