Apache Junction is a city in Maricopa and Pinal counties, Arizona, United States, located on U.S. Route 60, 16 miles northeast of Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport and 18 miles east of Mesa. The city enjoys a wonderful location and is part of the Phoenix-Mesa-Chandler Metropolitan Area. It was incorporated on November 24, 1978. It is bordered by the Superstition Mountains to the east and the Goldfield Mountains to the north. It is surrounded by several parks and nature reserves, such as Usery Mountain Regional Park, Lost Dutchman State Park, and San Tan Mountain Regional Park as well as many hiking trails.
