Serving as the seat of Polk County, Crookston is a city in Northwestern Minnesota, United States. Incorporated on February 14, 1879, the city is in the Red River Valley. It is home to the University of Minnesota Crookston (UMN–Crookston), a public college founded in 1966 and located in the northern part of the city. Crookston is also home to the Grand Theatre which is one of the longest continuously running theatres in the United States. Situated at 124 E 2nd Street, the theater was built in 1910 and formerly used as an opera house. Local attractions also include the historic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. U.S. Routes 2 and 75 serve the area.
