Emory University, formerly known as Emory College (1836–1915), is a private research university that was founded by the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1836, located 6.5 miles away from Downtown Atlanta, in the state of Georgia, United States. The university has nine academic departments including the School of Medicine, the School of Law, Emory College of Arts and Sciences, and Rollins School of Public Health. It has over 15 thousand students (2019). Emory Healthcare, part of the university, is the largest healthcare system in Georgia. It consists of seven hospitals including the Emory University Hospital and Emory University Hospital Midtown. The notable alumni include Nobel Peace Prize laureates, Prime Ministers, heads of state, Rhodes Scholars, university presidents, Pulitzer Prize winners, Emmy Award winners, and so on. Emory University was used as a filming location in the 2007 movie "Into The Wild".
