Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas

Southern Methodist University (SMU) is a private research higher education institution in Dallas, Texas, located in the University Park area, near U.S Highway 75. Founded on April 17, 1911, the university is an R1 doctoral university, recognized for its very high level of research activity. The university offers over 150 graduate and doctoral programs across eight schools, such as the Edwin L. Cox School of Business, the Dedman School of Law, and the Meadows School of the Arts.

The university's main campus is home to the George W. Bush Presidential Center, which opened on April 25, 2013. It is situated at 2943 SMU Boulevard (32.8410884, -96.7782963). The center houses a presidential library, a museum, a replica of the Oval Office, as well as the offices of the George W. Bush Foundation.

Notable alumni include Laura Bush, Bob Krueger, Rick Scott, Bob Dudley, James A. Baker, Donald D. Clayton, Donald Holmquest, James Cronin, Mary Ellen Weber, Larry Faulkner, Kathy Bates, Kenneth Acker, Kelvin Beachum, Zach Wood, Sterling Brown, and Regina Taylor. Kourtney Kardashian also attended Southern Methodist University but did not graduate.

Dallas Hall is one of the historic structures on the campus, located at 3225 University Boulevard (32.8452775, -96.7850206). Built in 1915, the building has been listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places since 1978 and is a Recorded Texas Historic Landmark. It is also significant as the first building on campus.
