Fergus Falls, a city, serves as the seat of Otter Tail County, located in Minnesota, United States. Incorporated as a city on March 3, 1881, Fergus Falls was severely damaged by the 1919 Fergus Falls tornado on Sunday, June 22, 1919. It is the second deadliest tornado in the state's history, killing 57 people and destroying 159 homes. It also destroyed the Otter Tail County courthouse and the Northern Pacific rail depot.
The city is served by several major highways including Interstate 94, Minnesota State Highway 210, and U.S. Highways 52 and 59. Fergus Falls is home to Hillcrest Lutheran Academy, which was founded in 1916. Minnesota State Community and Technical College is also situated in the city. It has many points of interest, such as Otto the Otter, Fergus Falls Ice Arena, Prairie Wetlands Learning Center, Westridge Mall, Westridge Theatre, Robert Hannah Recreational Area, Otter Cove Children's Museum, Kaddatz Galleries, and Fergus Falls Center for Arts.
