Lorain, also known as International City or Steel City, is located in Lorain County, Ohio, United States. The city sits on the shore of Lake Erie at the mouth of the Black River, about 28 miles west of Cleveland.

Transportation and Location
U.S. Route 6 passes through Lorain, while State Routes 2, 57, 58, and 611 also serve the area. There are three bridges over the Black River in Lorain Harbor — two for road traffic and one for rail transport. The Charles Berry Bridge, located at latitude 41.469762 and longitude -82.175441, carries U.S. Route 6.

Lorain is bordered by Sheffield Lake and Sheffield to the east, Lake Erie to the north, Vermilion to the west, and Amherst and Elyria to the south.

History and Economy
Founded in 1807, Lorain is one of the most populous cities in Greater Cleveland. It is home to the headquarters of Brightspeed of Northcentral Ohio, Inc., a telephone operating company established in 1977.
