Ludhiana, Punjab, India

One of the largest municipal areas in northern India, Ludhiana (ਲੁਧਿਆਣਾ) is the principal and biggest city of Punjab, a state located along the India-Pakistan border. It is a major economic and cultural hub, with numerous commercial and educational institutions, as well as sports and recreational facilities. Ludhiana is situated in the middle of the state, covering an area of about 120 square miles. The city stands around 800 feet above sea level, just southwest of the Western Himalayas, in the lowlands about 100-120 miles from the high Himalayan ranges.

Like other major Indian cities, Ludhiana has a rich history. Its main landmarks include the Clock Tower in the downtown area, Gurudwara Shri Kalgidhar Singh Sabha, Gurudwara Shri Manji Sahib Alamgir, Maharaja Ranjit Singh War Museum, Lodhi Fort, and many other important historic and cultural sites. These are located near modern attractions such as shopping centers, cinemas, stadiums, cricket grounds, city parks, and gardens. Ludhiana is also a key center of social life in the region. The city is less than 100 miles east of Lahore, Pakistan, about 200 miles north of New Delhi, and roughly 250 miles north of Jaipur.
