Pensacola, Florida: City of Five Flags

Pensacola is the county seat of Escambia County, one of the coastal cities of Florida, and an old historic settlement located on Pensacola Bay in the western part of the state. The city was founded in 1559 by Spanish explorer Don Tristán de Luna y Arellano and has nicknames such as "The City of Five Flags". It is situated on the north side of Pensacola Bay, approximately 196 miles west of Tallahassee, the capital of Florida. Pensacola has a total area of 40.7 square miles.

Pensacola International Airport is located about 3 miles from the central business district. The city also has a large port and is an important economic hub in the region. Pensacola is famous for its numerous festivals and annual events, as well as landmarks and attractions such as the Seville Tower, Pensacola Lighthouse & Museum, Fort Barrancas, the Quina House Museum, the National Naval Aviation Museum, the African American Heritage Society, Pensacola Beach Eco-Trail, Pensacola Beach, Perdido Key, and the Gulf Islands National Seashore.
