Ponca City, OK, USA

Ponca City is a city in north-central Oklahoma, United States, located in Kay County on the banks of the Arkansas River near Kaw Lake. The city lies about 94 miles northwest of Tulsa, 105 miles north of Oklahoma City, and 87 miles south of Wichita, Kansas. It is served by U.S. Routes 60, 77, and 177, as well as State Highway 11, and Interstate 35 runs close to the city. Founded in 1893 and incorporated in 1899, Ponca City was named after the Ponca people. The local economy has historically been based on the oil industry, and the city is home to several related companies. The headquarters of the Ponca Tribe of Indians of Oklahoma is located nearby in White Eagle.

Ponca City is known for its historic sites and buildings. The E.W. Marland Mansion, located at 901 Monument Road, is a U.S. National Historic Landmark. Built in 1928 and designed by John Duncan Forsyth in the Mediterranean Revival style, it was added to the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on April 11, 1973. Another notable site is the Miller Brothers 101 Ranch, which dates back to 1892 and covers about 82.6 acres (33.4 hectares). It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on April 29, 1973. The Poncan Theatre, a historic theater at 104 E. Grand Avenue, was built in 1927 and designed by Boller Brothers. It is part of the Downtown Ponca City Historic District.
