Raton is a city in northern New Mexico, United States, situated near the state border with Colorado and 174 miles northeast of Santa Fe. It serves as the seat of Colfax County. Raton is served by Raton Municipal Airport, Raton Train Station, Interstate 25, and U.S. Routes 64 and 87. The city is located south of Raton Pass, a mountain pass on the New Mexico–Colorado border. The pass is an important historical landmark that was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1960. It was also listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places on October 15, 1966.
Raton has several tourist attractions, including Sugarite Canyon State Park, Historic Marker - Raton, Roundhouse Memorial Park, Climax Canyon Nature Trail, Raton Downtown Historic District, Raton Adventure Centre, Raton Pass Scenic Highway, Goat Hill Scenic Overlook, and Raton Museum. The city also hosts the International Balloon Rally.
