Perry, OK, USA

Perry, formerly known as Wharton, is a city in Oklahoma, United States, located about 64 miles north of Oklahoma City, 80 miles west of Tulsa, and 100 miles south of Wichita, Kansas. It serves as the seat of Noble County. The community developed near a railroad station in the 19th century and was officially incorporated on September 20, 1893.

Perry is best known as the headquarters of The Charles Machine Works, founded by Edwin Malzahn in 1902. The city offers several attractions, including the Cherokee Strip Museum, Perry Wrestling Monument Park, Perry BMAC Baseball Complex, a Carnegie Library, a campground near Lake Perry, a casino, and a few parks and sports facilities.

The Perry Courthouse Square Historic District features a number of historic buildings. Among them is the First National Bank and Trust Company Building at 300 West 6th Street. Built in 1902 and designed by Joseph P. Foucart, it has been listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places since May 16, 1979. The Noble County Courthouse, constructed in 1915, stands at the center of the district and was added to the National Register on August 23, 1984.

Other historic landmarks include the Perry National Guard Armory, built of native stone in 1936, and the Wolleson–Nicewander Building at 615 Delaware Street. Constructed in 1900, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 16, 1979.
