Reading, nicknamed "Pretzel Capital of the World" or "Pretzel City", is a city in southern Pennsylvania, United States, located approximately halfway between Harrisburg and Philadelphia. It is the seat of Berks County. The city was founded in 1748 and incorporated on March 16, 1847, and named after the town in Berkshire, England. The area was originally inhabited by the Lenape people. Reading is home to the headquarters of a few companies, such as EnerSys, Carpenter Technology Corporation, Boscov's, Penske Truck Leasing. It is also home to Albright College and Alvernia University. U.S. Route 422 serves the area. Points of interest in the city include Reading Public Museum, Reading Pagoda, Gring's Mill Recreation Area, Antietam Lake Park, Jim Dietrich Park, Nolde Forest - Sawmill, and FirstEnergy Stadium.
