Roselle is a borough in Union County, northeastern New Jersey, United States, located 20 miles southwest of New York City. It was incorporated on December 20, 1894. The borough is bordered by Cranford to the west, Elizabeth to the east, Roselle Park to the north, and Linden to the south. Newark Liberty International Airport, Garden State Parkway, and Route 27 serve the area. Warinanco Park and Arminio Field are among the major points of interest in Roselle. Warinanco Park hosts the annual Roselle House Music Festival.
Roselle was the site where the world's first electric lighting system with overhead wires began operation on January 19, 1883. It was built by Thomas Edison. The First Presbyterian Church at 111 W 5th Avenue became the nation’s first church to be lit by electricity.
