Skagway is a small town in southern Alaska, which is the most north western state of the USA. The town is set in an amazing area and is surrounded by national parks. It was established at the very end of the 19th century and a great part of the population is of the indigenous Tlingit origin. Those were the times of the Gold Rush and many of gold miners came to the area to look for a new life. Modern day's town is really beautiful and very touristy. There is a small but deep water port in Skagway, so there are numerous cruise ships landing there. Tourists take trains and go to explore the nature in the neighboring parks or travel further to Canada. The town becomes really live in summer, but in winter months its population is close to 1,000 people only.
