Union City, New Jersey: Little Havana on the Hudson

Union City is a city in Hudson County, New Jersey, United States, located near the state border with New York and 3 miles north of Hoboken. It has a few nicknames like "Embroidery Capital of the United States" and "Little Havana on the Hudson". It was incorporated on June 1, 1925. Union City is served by Route 495 and a light rail station on Bergenline Avenue at 48th Street. The historic two-story building, situated at 2312 Summit Avenue, has hosted some legendary musicians, including Frank Sinatra. It was also used as a filming location in the 1989 film Bloodhounds of Broadway.

In the United States, the first box of Mallomars, a chocolate-coated marshmallow dessert, was sold in Union City in 1913. The city has several attractions, including Bergenline Avenue, Transfer Station, Washington Park, Reservoir Park, and Ellsworth Park. The Monastery and Church of Saint Michael the Archangel is a historic church located at 2019 West Street. It was built in 1875 and is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places and New Jersey Register of Historic Places. The Park Performing Arts Center at 560 32nd Street is a non-profit organization in Union City and hosts various events, including the longest-running Passion Play in the United States. It also has a museum. The city hosts many festivals, including the annual Union City International Film Festival and the Multi-Arts Festival.
