Winkler is a city situated in the southern part of the province of Manitoba, central Canada. It is situated just about 3.5 miles north of the border between Canada and the US, and it is a home to about 14 thousand people. It is known as an industrial hub and also one of the fastest developing cities of the province. Winkler was established in the middle of the 19th century by a group of settlers from Europe and Russia, and the current community is multi-cultural. It used to be an agricultural community and now it is rather an industrial one, with a few cattle (namely hogs) producing companies. There are a few landmarks in the city like the Pembina Thresherman's Museum, the Winkler Parkland and numerous summer fairs and events taking place there.
